He also responded to questions about the controversy involving Indian scientist and activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike and lost more than 9 kilograms. Omi Vaidya, known for portraying Chatur Ramalingam in the 2009 film 3 Idiots, had earlier issued a statement on the matter. Other members of the cast faced criticism for remaining silent. In his video, Vaidya noted that the character Phunsukh Wangdu played by Aamir Khan was inspired by Wangchuk and praised his contributions while expressing concern over the hunger strike. At the London event, Aamir clarified that Vaidya was incorrect and that the character was not modeled on Wangchuk. He added that this fact does not diminish Wangchuk’s achievements and expressed hope for his recovery.
