A 32-year-old Toronto resident has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the December killing of his 30-year-old Indian-origin partner, Himanshi Khurana. Toronto police stated that officers from the fugitive and homicide units collaborated with national and international agencies to return Abdul Ghafoori to Canada. Authorities did not reveal the location of his detention. Khurana was the city’s 40th homicide victim of 2025. Investigators confirmed the death as a homicide and noted that she had been in an intimate partner relationship with Ghafoori. He was taken into custody at a Toronto airport on Friday and was scheduled to appear in court the next morning. Officers discovered Khurana’s body in a residence near Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West after responding to a missing person report on December 19. The Indian Consulate in Toronto expressed sorrow over the incident, stating it was deeply saddened and shocked. The consulate noted it had contacted the family and local officials and was offering all possible support.
