Access to the cave requires a guided tour to protect its fragile prehistoric artwork. The tour follows a wooden walkway beside the rock shelters, where guides explain the meaning of the paintings, the techniques used to create them, and details about the people who made them.

The Bajada de los Toldos trail offers a scenic hike that descends into the Pinturas River canyon, crosses the river, and reaches the cave entrance.

Near the northern park entrance, the Tierra de Colores trail provides an easy walk through striking pink, orange, and yellow rock formations that highlight Patagonia’s geology.

Adjacent Patagonia Park features more trails, wildlife viewing, an interpretation center on local natural and human history, and astronomy sessions under clear night skies.
