Expired Frooti and Appy Fizz were among items confiscated during a Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration inspection at a warehouse connected to Parle Agro in Mumbai. Officials suspended the licence of the Velocity Express facility after discovering expired stock valued at ₹99,970. The seized goods included outdated batches of Frooti, Appy Fizz and Candy Juice. The move formed part of intensified checks led by Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe across the state. The warehouse stands in Prayag Nagar on LU Gadkari Marg near Chembur’s Washinaka area. Eight FDA staff carried out the overnight check from 6 pm on August 13 until 5 am on August 14. They seized the expired products and prohibited any sale or distribution. The site was sealed and two transport vehicles were held. The action against the Parle Agro-linked site belonged to a broader drive. On August 13 the FDA examined 86 food businesses using online delivery platforms. Fourteen licences were suspended and 60 notices issued. Officials also took 698 kg of dairy goods worth ₹34,302. Ten FIRs were filed, nine people arrested and banned items such as pan masala and gutkha valued over ₹46.76 lakh were confiscated. The department further checked 109 hotels, restaurants and dhabas. Four licences were suspended and 49 improvement notices given. The incident reminds consumers to verify expiry dates on packaged drinks.
