The Madhya Pradesh Congress unit has encountered another internal setback while attempting to criticize Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the BJP over an alleged land scam involving his family in Ujjain. Earlier in June, the party dealt with the rejection of its Rajya Sabha nominee Meenakshi Natarajan’s candidacy due to an unreported court notice, prompting accusations against the BJP and speculation about internal divisions. Later that month, senior leader Digvijaya Singh publicly contradicted State Congress chief Jitu Patwari’s claim that government land valued at ₹500 crore had been transferred for ₹1 to a trust linked to the chief minister’s advisor. Singh clarified that the land went to a government trust chaired by the chief minister and accused brokers of spreading falsehoods. The remarks triggered meetings of the party’s political affairs committee, social media criticism from some leaders, and calls for better coordination. After the session, Singh and Patwari appeared together to affirm party unity, with Singh stating Patwari was like a son and denying any personal rift. BJP spokespersons highlighted the contradiction as evidence of false claims, while one Congress legislator expressed concern over upcoming elections and the need for unified leadership.
