Relatives of Delhi Police officers hurt in recent student demonstrations in the capital said on Friday that personnel faced prolonged violence during the events. They noted that the injuries received limited public notice compared with other claims. At a news conference in New Delhi, the families presented videos of assaults on officers and stated that disruptive individuals had joined the gathering. They highlighted serious wounds suffered by several personnel still receiving care and called for justice for the affected officers. The relatives said their experiences had been overshadowed by reports of police actions toward students and asked the public to avoid general criticism of the force. The daughter of a sub-inspector described how her father was dragged by a crowd and left unconscious near Jantar Mantar on July 25. She said colleagues brought him home that night with his uniform covered in blood and that the incident left the family deeply shaken. She added that her father had been posted at the front line and had observed non-student elements in the crowd. The wife of an assistant sub-inspector reported that her husband, with 33 years of service, was struck by stones during a July 20 march and required hospital treatment. She said his helmet was broken by the impact and that he had described aggressive behavior from parts of the crowd. The son of another assistant sub-inspector stated that his father sustained head injuries requiring stitches while on duty and that the officer had noted the presence of aggressive individuals beyond students.
