Seven individuals were detained after the Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department carried out searches at various sites statewide linked to suspected irregularities in JPSC competitive exams. A CID statement noted the operations targeted seven named suspects in Case No. 16/2026 to serve outstanding warrants. The individuals were named as Aditya Pandey, Pawan Kumar Singh, Ravishankar Kumar, Santosh Kumar Singh, Sanand Prakash, Lalu Kumar Yadav and Saurabh Kumar Pandey. Searches occurred across multiple districts as investigators worked to locate those involved. The matter concerns claimed irregularities in JPSC exams. Officials reported beginning to compare OMR sheets gathered during the probe and review collected materials. The agency stated inquiries continue and further steps will follow based on gathered proof. Action against anyone implicated remains in progress under legal provisions. Separately, Ranchi Police filed an FIR against around 300 unknown persons over the August 10 assembly march. The update coincides with ongoing demonstrations by JPSC and JSSC aspirants at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, now in their 21st day. Protesters seek a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in both commissions’ recruitment tests and have planned a flag procession for Independence Day. They warned against the recent FIR tied to earlier clashes, saying the planned event would reinforce their campaign. Police claim outsiders exploited the march to throw stones and assault officers. Demonstrators continue pressing for cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam, a central probe, and recruitment changes, claiming partial government response. Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto, on hunger strike for 11 days, urged unity from his hospital bed and warned against efforts to split the movement. Another protester, Prem Nayak, reported possible fresh talks with officials on the 12th day of his fast amid health concerns.
