After the final voters list appeared on September 6, affected citizens may still appeal under the Representation of the People Act, 1950. The draft electoral roll released on Sunday showed 19.34 lakh names out of Manipur’s 20.93 lakh eligible voters, covering 92.42 percent of the population across all 60 assembly seats. The figures emerged from the Special Intensive Revision exercise held from May 30 to June 28, according to Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Sinha. Another 1.58 lakh people, or 7.58 percent, did not return their forms during the drive. Among those listed, 9.40 lakh are male, 9.93 lakh female and 293 belong to the third gender. The 18-19 age group accounts for 20,442 entries. Sinha stated that no name can be removed without following proper procedure and granting the individual a hearing before any final order is issued.
