Two sets of unidentified human skeletal remains, one believed to be from a woman, were discovered in sand heaps at Sheela Nagar Junction in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The location is part of the Sheela Nagar-Sabbavaram road construction. Gajuwaka police arrived after receiving a report and examined the site. Assistant Commissioner Srinivas Rao stated the sand was placed there around 3 a.m. The bones were covered in white cloth with flower garlands, suggesting the material came from a burial ground disturbed by excavation. The open spot is often used for dumping construction waste. Police have filed a case and the probe continues.
