Madhya Pradesh forest officials have detained three individuals suspected of contaminating a pond to kill wild animals. Twelve chital and two sambar deer were discovered dead in the Vijayraghavgarh forest range of Katni district. The carcasses were located on Thursday by staff on routine patrol in the Ghughri beat, spread across roughly 100 metres around a pond in Reserve Forest compartment RF-62. The site was cordoned off and an inquiry began. A dog team helped trace suspects to a house in Ghughri village, where fresh meat, blood marks, animal fur, traps and other hunting gear were seized.
