The message included an image of the Indian flag and the Red Fort. Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra also posted a greeting, noting the importance of seeing the national flag raised and expressing hope that every child in India gains the chance to play sports. Bindra became the first Indian to win an individual Olympic gold in the men’s 10-metre air rifle at the 2008 Beijing Games. Wrestler Bajrang Punia likewise shared wishes, honouring the country’s history and the flag’s meaning. India concluded its Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign in Glasgow with 39 medals, placing fourth overall. The team earned strong results in boxing, judo, weightlifting and para events despite missing several usual disciplines.
