Nottingham will be welcoming the next champions of the UKA Cross Challenge, sponsored by SportShoes.com. As Wollaton Park hosts the final event of the series with double points up for contention Saturday 7th March.
The series opened in Cardiff, with second round in Liverpool, the third in London and the final headed to the West Midlands in Nottingham.
Another exciting addition to the day’s programme is Nottingham beginning the competition with a para-athletes race at 10:15AM, the first to feature in the series with the competitors racing over 4000M. Sam Fernando (Fife AC) returns to Nottingham to defend his title.
The age group races then take place beginning with the U11 boys, U11 girls at 10.35AM and 10.45AM. Followed by the U20 men and U13 girls.
The senior women will then take to the racecourse for their chance at the top spot, with the rest of the junior races taking place after the first of the senior race.
To conclude the day, the competition will finish with the men’s senior race over 10,000M
This Saturday will also host the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships, supported by UK Athletics. First starting out in 1926 the Inter Counties competition is known for its history and being a key point on the cross-country calendar.
Last year saw women’s team Surrey win in the U13, U15, U17 and senior competition. Just missing out on a clean sweep with the U20 women’s team finishing third overall.
