Men’s 400m
At the centre of the spotlight are two of the fastest indoor 400m runners in history, Christopher Morales Williams (CAN) and Khaleb McRae (USA), both chasing their first individual global titles.
McRae arrives as the man in form. The U.S. athlete opened his season with 45.38 in Boston before lowering the world lead to a remarkable 44.52 in February, a mark that is currently pending ratification as a world record.
Morales Williams, meanwhile, sits at the top of the all-time top list with a personal best of 44.49, faster than the official world record, which underlines his potential, even if that performance was not ratified due to a technical issue. The Canadian has also boasted a convincing 44.80 this season.
The depth of the roster does not end there.
Hungary’s Attila Molnár arrives as the newly crowned European indoor record holder with 45.01, while Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago brings both experience and pedigree, the 2022 world indoor champion having also clocked a national outdoor record of 43.72 at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.
The field is stacked, and this year’s championship offers one new, important twist: the 400m final will be split, with the three fastest overall times determining the winners.
