The Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory for visitors to South Delhi’s prominent historical sites, such as Qutub Minar and Mehrauli Archaeological Park, on April 12, 2026. Expect traffic controls and delays in the area from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, due to an anticipated increase in tourists and vehicles.

Roads likely to experience heavy traffic include:
– Anuvrat Marg to Qutub Minar via Phool Mandi
– Crescent Marg to Qutub Minar via Masjid Haji Ali Jan
– Kalka Dass Marg to Qutub Minar

To ensure efficient movement, heavy and commercial vehicles are prohibited on several access routes to Qutub Minar, including those through Phool Mandi and Masjid Haji Ali Jan.

Parking restrictions are in place, with no stopping or parking allowed except in specified lots in the Mehrauli vicinity. Violators face vehicle towing and legal fines.

Suggested detours for drivers include:
– Aurobindo Marg
– Anuvrat Marg (with regulations)
– Crescent Road
– Kalka Dass Marg (with directional limits)

Travelers heading to key locations like IGI Airport, New Delhi Railway Station, or ISBT terminals should prepare for potential holdups and adjust plans accordingly.

Authorities encourage using public options, particularly the Delhi Metro, to ease roadway pressure.

Emergency services, including ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles, remain unaffected by these measures.

Additionally, the public is asked to stay alert and notify authorities of any unusual items or behaviors.

Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features a 12th-century tower and ancient remnants, drawing large numbers especially during weekends and holidays.
