Indian stock indices opened lower on Monday, influenced by unfavorable international signals. The NSE Nifty 50 decreased by up to 2% to reach 23,555 during initial trading, while the BSE Sensex dropped by as much as 2.2% to 75,868.

In commodity markets, US crude oil futures for May delivery jumped almost 8% to $104.20 per barrel. Brent crude for June increased 7% to $101.86, following news of potential US naval actions to restrict Iran’s harbors after unsuccessful diplomatic negotiations.

Across Asia, Australia’s ASX 200 decreased 0.41%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.71%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 declined 0.74%, South Korea’s Kospi dropped 0.90%, and China’s Shanghai Composite remained unchanged.
