Eastern Railway is preparing to improve platforms at Howrah station to support Mail and Express trains with 22 to 24 coaches. The railway zone has finished enhancements on platforms 14 and 15. Platform 14 now measures 581 meters, allowing it to manage full-sized trains of that length. Platform 15 has grown from 312 meters to 591 meters.

At a cost of Rs 3 crore, platform 24 has been lengthened to 635 meters. Platform 16 has undergone a Rs 15 crore renovation, enabling it to handle 12-coach trains with updated amenities.

Eastern Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Shibram Majhi, stated that extensions are planned for platforms 10, 11, 12, and 13, reaching 542, 591, and 547 meters respectively. The goal is to ensure all passengers benefit from these advancements without being overlooked.
