Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a wanted accused in the April 2024 shooting outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, has approached a special MCOCA court in Mumbai seeking permission to formally surrender in the case.

In his application, Anmol stated he wished to voluntarily surrender before the Mumbai court to face the ongoing trial and participate in the judicial proceedings in the interest of a fair trial and justice.

Anmol Bishnoi is currently held in Tihar Jail in New Delhi after being extradited from the United States to India in November 2025. Following his arrival, he was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in connection with a case linked to the alleged terrorist-gangster nexus involving the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate.

On Thursday, Special Judge SR Navender directed the public prosecutor to file a reply to Anmol’s plea. The application states that although Anmol is already in judicial custody in the NIA case, he cannot appear before the Mumbai court without appropriate judicial directions.

He has therefore sought the issuance of a production warrant to the Tihar Jail authorities so that his surrender can be formally recorded and remand proceedings can be conducted, either physically or through virtual mode.

The plea argues that allowing the surrender would not prejudice the prosecution and would instead help expedite the trial while preventing unnecessary delays in the legal process.

It also notes that the trial in the Salman Khan house firing case is already underway and that statements of three prosecution witnesses have been recorded in Anmol’s absence.

The case relates to the firing outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area on April 14, 2024, when two motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire before fleeing the scene. Mumbai Police subsequently invoked the MCOCA and alleged that the attack was orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The trial is currently proceeding against co-accused Vicky Gupta, Sagar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Mohammed Rafiq Chaudhary and Harpal Singh, all of whom are in judicial custody. Another accused, Anuj Kumar Thapan, died while in police custody.

Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi have both been named as wanted accused in the case.
