After ten days in hiding, Samarth Singh, husband of Twisha Sharma, appeared at a Jabalpur court on Friday to surrender in connection with her death. He was taken into custody by local police amid confusion and media presence. Earlier reports indicated his lawyer had announced plans for surrender, but the process involved movement between courtrooms before police detained him outside. Twisha’s family lawyer claimed he discovered Singh waiting in a darkened courtroom and alleged improper handling by court staff. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had previously directed that surrender should occur before the trial court in Bhopal or the investigating officer. Twisha’s father accused the proceedings of causing intimidation and undermining judicial process. The court has approved a second autopsy of the body, which was found at the couple’s home in Bhopal on May 12. The family alleges dowry-related harassment, while the in-laws maintain she died by suicide.
