Former model and actor Twisha Sharma, a woman from Noida who died at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12 amid allegations of dowry harassment, was cremated on Sunday after doctors from AIIMS Delhi performed a second postmortem examination.

The rites took place at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat in Bhopal after 5 p.m., with her mother and relatives visibly distressed as rituals concluded and the pyre was lit.

Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, said the family was bidding farewell to a daughter, sister, friend and an innocent life cut short, noting the parents’ grief and unanswered calls for justice.

The 33-year-old was found dead at her in-laws’ residence in Katara Hills. Her family alleged dowry-related harassment and abetment to suicide, while the in-laws attributed the death to drug addiction.

Police have filed an FIR against her husband, lawyer Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, former district judge Giribala Singh, on dowry harassment charges. Singh was arrested in Jabalpur on Friday and remanded to seven days of police custody by a Bhopal court on Saturday.
