At the annual general meeting on Thursday, officials learned the organization is projected to lose five million dollars in 2026. Two board candidates supported by A-League clubs failed to secure seats. Infantino highlighted the new Australian Championship, won by South Melbourne, as a key event that narrows the divide between top and second-tier competitions. Chair Anter Isaac noted he had not previewed the video. The expected loss follows a fifteen point three million dollar deficit last year, despite higher World Cup-related income. Isaac clarified that the prior operating shortfall was three point two million dollars after excluding one-time items. About twenty positions have been cut ahead of tighter budgets, worsened by elevated costs for the North American World Cup. Isaac said the body will not return to balance until 2027. Rachel Wiseman was named deputy chair and Paul Bittar joined the board. Two A-League-backed nominees did not receive enough votes. Two casual vacancies, likely for women, will be filled to meet gender-balance rules for funding eligibility.
