The central government has for the first time indicated that E20 petrol could affect vehicle mileage. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri clarified that any drop may result from multiple factors. At a press conference in Delhi, he stated that ethanol is used in racing cars where acceleration improves and knocking is reduced. Mileage may decrease slightly due to various reasons.
