A few days after retiring from international cricket, Ben Stokes shared a farewell post on social media. He thanked teammates, fans and others involved in what he described as a “mad 15 years”. Stokes announced his retirement during the third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge. Shortly after the official statement, he took his final wicket for England. His career concluded with a 160-run loss as New Zealand won the match and series. Stokes watched the finish from the balcony after being dismissed in his last innings. The retirement followed a busy period. He captained England to victory in the first Test at Lord’s, missed the second Test after receiving a conduct warning, and returned for the final match in Nottingham. He also opened the batting in his last innings. In his social media message, Stokes reflected on the highs and lows of his time in the game and expressed gratitude to supporters and teammates.
