The Jan Shakti Janata Dal, headed by Tej Pratap Yadav, has chosen social activist Veena Manvi as its candidate for the Bankipur Assembly bypoll in Bihar. Tej Pratap Yadav presented the party symbol to Manvi on Sunday, confirming her nomination.
After accepting the symbol, Veena Manvi posted on social media to thank the party leadership. She stated that the party had trusted her and promised to work as the voice of Bankipur residents while meeting their expectations.
Manvi’s entry is expected to heighten competition in the bypoll. She will likely contest against Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, who has already declared his candidacy. The BJP is also anticipated to name a candidate, possibly creating a three-cornered fight.
The Bankipur bypoll ranks among Bihar’s most closely watched electoral contests, with major parties preparing for an intense campaign.
