Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused the Samajwadi Party and Congress of applying double standards in the Ram Temple donation theft case. He questioned why they remained silent on Waqf land matters while criticizing an incident in Ayodhya. Speaking at a public event in Pratapgarh, Adityanath stated that the opposition was exploiting one event to target Hindu beliefs and reduce Ayodhya’s rising importance. He noted that Ayodhya now draws large numbers of visitors and claimed the opposition’s reaction stems from this development. Adityanath further criticized the opposition parties for shifting positions, suggesting their approach would embarrass even a chameleon. He accused them of exaggerating the theft incident to offend Hindus and challenge their beliefs. The Chief Minister asked why the parties had not raised concerns about large areas of land transferred under the Waqf name, land he said could have benefited poorer communities but was instead controlled and sold by a few. He added that the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust requested an SIT inquiry, leading to an FIR and action against those with evidence against them. Adityanath questioned the opposition’s silence on Waqf-related transactions. He also alleged that the parties revive divisive topics near elections, focusing on caste divisions and faith-based attacks. He recalled past positions where Congress questioned the existence of Lord Ram and both parties backed the Babri structure, contrasting this with their current stance. Adityanath further criticized earlier governments for diverting funds from Hindu sites and allowing illegal slaughterhouses and cow smuggling. He highlighted his administration’s record, including new medical colleges, the Ganga Expressway, and recruitment drives that benefited local youth without bias.
