The Bharatiya Janata Party has criticized the Aam Aadmi Party administration in Punjab for withholding Dearness Allowance arrears owed to many state employees and retirees. It compared the situation to earlier disputes in West Bengal under the Trinamool Congress. The BJP said the Punjab government is using budget shortfalls as a reason for the holdup while spending on other priorities. It also claimed regular staff face unequal treatment compared with senior officers. The party noted court rulings that treat such allowances as enforceable rights and require timely payments with interest. Punjab BJP leaders said they would resolve the matter if elected. The state government has cited legal provisions allowing flexibility on schedules and has sought extensions in ongoing cases.
