Heavy rainfall continued across Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, triggering multiple incidents of damage. A retaining wall collapsed in Shimla’s Auckland area, sending five vehicles tumbling down a slope. Flash floods submerged a 100-foot iron bridge near Lippa village in Kinnaur, isolating the settlement. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan announced a statewide ban on all mining operations until September to reduce risks during the monsoon season. The government stated it has issued directives to deputy commissioners and allocated funds for relief efforts. Traffic on the Kalka-Shimla highway near Kumarhatti was blocked by falling rocks and debris, requiring excavators for clearance. Similar wall collapses occurred at other Shimla locations, damaging parked vehicles. In Kinnaur, mud and boulders threatened homes along a stream. Sirmaur district also saw swollen rivers and waterlogging. Schools in Paonta Sahib subdivision were closed on July 10 as a precaution. The Shimla meteorological office issued a yellow alert for isolated heavy rain until July 15.
