Kely Nascimento, daughter of the late Pele, stated that Brazil’s football system is broken. Her comments followed the national team’s surprising elimination from the FIFA World Cup round of 16 by Norway.
“Brazilian football is broken. Whether it is corruption … it’s like a closed, very incestuous ecosystem where no one can see inside, and everybody knows why it is not working, but nobody can fix it,” Nascimento told Reuters.
She added that while Brazil continues to develop elite players, the team’s international difficulties reflect deeper organizational problems.
