The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India issued nine notices to Swiggy Instamart on Saturday after receiving several consumer complaints. The regulator cited possible violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 and asked the company to provide a detailed response along with a compliance report or face legal measures. Swiggy Instamart must supply information on quality checks, inventory control, storage conditions, hygiene practices and internal oversight. It is also required to outline corrective steps, root cause findings and grievance handling procedures to avoid future issues. Complaints mentioned delivery of expired, spoiled or contaminated goods including eggs and milk. Some items such as whey protein and snack mixes were reportedly sold past their use-by dates. Other reports described foul-smelling eggs and spoiled flatbreads that were unfit for consumption. An infant formula product was allegedly returned in poor condition yet sent out again. Additional concerns involved incorrect licence numbers, mismatched business names and lack of effective complaint resolution. The notices also questioned seller approval processes and overall food safety monitoring systems.
