India recorded a historic 270-run victory against England on the fourth day of the opening women’s Test at Lord’s. The result followed strong contributions from Yastika Bhatia, who scored her first Test century, and Kranti Gaud, who finished with seven wickets.
India made 285 in their first innings and declared their second at 341 for seven. England replied with 170 and 186. Bhatia struck 113 in the second innings, aided by Smriti Mandhana’s 70 and an unbeaten fifty from Richa Ghosh. Sophie Ecclestone claimed five wickets for England.
Gaud removed Tammy Beaumont with the first ball of the chase and later dismissed Heather Knight. Amy Jones offered resistance with a half-century, yet England could not form lasting partnerships. Sharp fielding supported the bowlers as India completed the win.
The visitors had earlier dismissed England for 170 after posting 285, with Sneh Rana taking four wickets.
