Bengaluru City Police Commissioner has allowed hotels and restaurants in the city to extend food service until 3:30 a.m. on July 14, 15, and 19 due to FIFA World Cup football matches. The directive was issued by Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh after a request from the National Restaurant Association of India for longer hours during the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Under Section 31(W) of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963, all establishments within city police limits may serve food until 3:30 a.m. instead of the standard 1 a.m. closing time on those dates. The order cites the global sporting event and aims to support viewers while preserving public order. It took effect on July 14.
