The Election Commission of India on Wednesday extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Punjab, Karnataka, Telangana and Delhi. In a communication to Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, the commission announced that draft rolls will now appear on August 17 rather than August 5, while booth-level visits will run until August 8 instead of July 29. Punjab’s house-to-house checks will finish on August 3 and its draft rolls will be issued on August 13, with final rolls set for October 12. Telangana will publish draft rolls on August 10 and final rolls on October 12. Karnataka’s visits will continue until August 8, draft rolls will appear on August 17 and final rolls on October 19. The commission had already adjusted schedules for Haryana and Andhra Pradesh the previous day. These areas form part of Phase 3 of the revision that began on May 14. After completion, the exercise will cover the entire country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
