MIOT International has opened a public Emergency Museum called MIOT’s World of Life-Saving Moments at its Manapakkam campus to raise awareness about emergency readiness and initial response. The facility was opened by B. Shamoondeswari, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Greater Chennai Police.
The interactive museum presents the history of emergency and trauma services in Chennai from the early 1980s onward, highlighting the growth of MIOT’s own emergency capabilities. Exhibits cover frequent medical crises such as heart attack, stroke, sepsis, poisoning, choking, anaphylaxis and heat stroke, while offering advice on proper first-aid steps and actions to avoid.
A dedicated station lets visitors practise chest compressions on a mannequin. The museum also honours traffic police, paramedics and residents who have helped during medical crises.
The hospital simultaneously released a compact Emergency Handbook with first-aid instructions for cardiac events, burns, trauma, bleeding, neurological issues, paediatric care and emergency contacts.
The museum is open to the public from July 15 to August 15. Schools and colleges have been invited to arrange student visits to build awareness and basic life-saving skills. Awards were presented to traffic police, paramedics and citizens who acted quickly to save lives.
