Congress MP and senior leader Pawan Khera met activist Sonam Wangchuk on Friday and accused the central government of insensitivity toward democratic protests. The visit followed the party’s statement on Wangchuk’s hunger strike, which began June 28. Organized by the Cockroach Janta Party, the protest demands reforms to the national examination system and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over repeated paper leaks. Speaking at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Khera voiced concern for Wangchuk’s health and that of the students joining him. He said the government does not respond to such forms of protest.
