A Sikh TikToker said he was singled out because of his religion after staff asked him to leave a gym for wearing a kirpan. Gurpartap Singh Khalsa posted the video online after the event at the Windsor Douglas GoodLife Fitness centre in Canada. He stated that an employee requested his departure following a complaint from another member. In the recording, he questioned the decision, asking if staff were removing him due to fear over his religious item. The employee responded that the item was considered a weapon and that the request was made for safety reasons. Gurpartap noted that he had already entered the facility while wearing the kirpan. The exchange grew heated as he challenged the staff member’s awareness. He denied accusations of harassment and described the situation as unreasonable. He later claimed the action amounted to racial profiling. The kirpan is one of five articles of faith for initiated Sikhs and holds ceremonial meaning as a symbol of protecting justice. The video prompted online discussion, with some users viewing the staff response as a legitimate safety measure and others calling it discriminatory. The incident follows a recent UK court case involving a kirpan.
