Bihar has around 68,720 registered gig workers according to official data. Many platform workers in Patna previously lacked proper rest options and often paused on motorcycles under trees despite high temperatures. This has now changed with the launch of two 24-hour air-conditioned rest areas for such workers. The facilities, created by Patna Smart City Ltd, are placed at Gandhi Maidan Gate No. 4 and near the Income Tax office in Golambar. Each offers air conditioning, seating, charging outlets, toilets and drinking water.
