Police have detained a man accused of taking his four-year-old son from a school in Madhya Pradesh. The boy was found unharmed after three days of searching, authorities stated on Saturday. The suspect, identified as Nilesh Rajput, was taken into custody in Pali, Rajasthan, and the child was returned to his mother in Morena.
Officials reported that Rajput acted because his separated wife had prevented contact with their son. Morena Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj Meena noted that initial findings indicate Rajput coordinated the abduction with two other individuals who remain at large.
Meena stated that technical leads and continuous inquiries over 72 hours led to the child’s recovery in Pali. Efforts continue to locate the remaining suspects.
Rajput and his wife had been living apart following a disagreement, with the mother and child residing at her mother’s home in Morena. During interrogation, the accused explained that he resorted to the act after being denied access to the boy.
Authorities said Rajput waited outside the school on July 14, took the child after classes, and fled on a scooter with an accomplice. They later left the scooter near the Chambal river bridge and traveled to Rajasthan by another vehicle. Evidence showed the three men had stayed at a Morena lodge for 12 days beforehand to plan and observe the school. The scooter belonged to the lodge owner.
School CCTV footage recorded the incident and aided identification. The mother initially disputed the identity in the video but later assisted investigators. The lodge owner also confirmed the suspect from the recording. The boy was recovered in Pali, Rajput was arrested, and the hunt for the other two continues.
