Opposition leaders on Saturday accused the central government of attempting to suppress the Cockroach Janata Party by removing activist Sonam Wangchuk from the Jantar Mantar protest site, describing the action as an attack on constitutional and democratic values. The BJP responded by criticizing opposition figures for their absence from the venue. Wangchuk had been fasting since June 28, seeking changes to the examination system and the resignation of the education minister. His removal early Saturday prompted questions from multiple parties ahead of a planned march to Parliament. AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal said the government should have engaged in dialogue rather than using force. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray called the move a disgrace and an assault on democracy. Congress MP Pawan Khera said the home ministry appeared determined to deny the right to dissent. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav demanded judicial oversight of Wangchuk’s medical care and accused the BJP of repressive politics. BJP national IT department in-charge Amit Malviya questioned why opposition leaders had not supported Wangchuk earlier at the site.
