Shortly after Delhi police transferred activist Sonam Wangchuk to a hospital, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke declared on Saturday that he would begin an indefinite hunger strike. In a post on X, Dipke stated he was starting the fast immediately. The announcement followed a statement from the New Delhi DCP office noting that Wangchuk had been moved for essential medical care under Delhi High Court orders and medical advice due to his worsening condition. Dipke claimed he had been assaulted and detained by police during a crackdown on demonstrators at Jantar Mantar, where officers urged protesters to leave peacefully. Wangchuk had been fasting for 21 days, calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged NEET-UG exam irregularities. Three students from the CPI(ML) Liberation’s All India Students’ Association continued their protest fast at the site, according to former AISA president N. Sai Balaji.
