Ruturaj Gaikwad from West Zone has been chosen as captain for the Duleep Trophy, while Mumbai’s Shams Mulani will serve as vice-captain. The 15-member squad was selected after a meeting of the committee led by Rajesh Pawar. Gaikwad replaces Shardul Thakur, who captained the side last season. He also leads Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and recently served as vice-captain for India A in a tri-series. The tournament takes place at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from August 23 to September 10 and will keep its zonal structure for the 2026-2027 season.
