The Youth Olympic Games’ organising committee unveiled the ‘Esprit Dakar 2026’ label last week to showcase Senegalese artistic, cultural, sports, and educational initiatives.
Artists, creators, craftsmen, schools, sports federations and cultural organisations are invited to partake in bringing the Games to life across the African nation through innovative projects that celebrate youth and Olympic values. The project hopes to foster connections between education, sport, and culture, while enhancing Senegal’s appeal on the international stage. Each labelled project must promote excellence, friendship, and respect, in accordance with the Olympic Charter.
Under the ‘Esprit Dakar 2026‘ tag, the YOG organising committee aims to highlight the richness of Senegalese artistic expressions through music, dance, visual arts, literature, cinema, crafts, heritage, and more. Schools, museums, cultural centres, theatres, libraries and sports facilities will also be eligible for the label.
This label will also encourage innovation and projects celebrating youth and Olympic values, create bridges between education, sport and culture and strengthen Senegal’s artistic and sporting appeal internationally. By supporting initiatives across the country, the Dakar 2026 Organising Committee aims to create lasting national momentum and leave a strong cultural, educational, and sporting legacy. ‘Esprit Dakar 2026‘ is more than just a label: it’s an invitation to participate in a collective adventure and to bring the Olympic spirit to life at the heart of local communities.
