The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to announce the Class 12 board exam results soon, probably by late April. This year, about 18.5 lakh students took the tests, with roughly 10.2 lakh boys and 8.3 lakh girls participating.

As results draw near, students are gearing up for their future academic steps. While some have already chosen their desired programs and professional directions, others are still considering options like university enrollments, competitive tests, and subject choices.

Many students are waiting for the JEE Main Session 2 outcomes, and others are readying for undergraduate admission exams, such as the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG), to secure spots in leading institutions nationwide.

Meanwhile, an increasing number of students are opting to continue their studies overseas right after Class 12. Pursuing education abroad is no longer considered a far-off dream or a post-undergraduate choice. Instead, it is viewed as a calculated step toward career advancement, with preparations often starting in the last year of school.

Students are making well-researched decisions by exploring programs, institutions, funding opportunities, employment possibilities, destinations, and cost of living. Their selections are more often driven by extended professional objectives rather than immediate educational factors.

Gaurav Jain, Director of Business Development at SP Jain London School of Management, explained that this trend indicates a larger evolution in educational perspectives. ‘Pursuing studies abroad is not just a remote goal or a unique adventure anymore. It is now regarded as a deliberate career choice that frequently starts as early as Class 12,’ he stated.

He noted that students today match their selections of nation, program, and school with targeted career results. ‘There is greater focus on building a career rather than just academic reputation. Students assess locations based on extended prospects like work permissions after studies and routes to permanent settlement, especially in places such as Australia and the United Kingdom,’ he added.

Jain also pointed out a clear inclination toward practical fields like Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and other STEM areas, which provide stronger worldwide job options and better initial salary levels.

He further observed that the timeline for career decisions has moved forward considerably. ‘Planning for careers starts much sooner, often in Class 12, with students looking for organized advice to outline both undergraduate and graduate routes that promote global movement and sustained development,’ he said.

An additional developing pattern is the popularity of education models across multiple cities. Jain mentioned that students are more frequently choosing programs that cover various international locations, enabling them to experience different learning frameworks, commercial settings, and cultural environments.

‘This method fosters global awareness—the skill to adjust and succeed in varied markets. It also allows students to form professional connections in different areas, providing entry to internships and job openings in several economies,’ he concluded.
