Fitness instructor Ahmad Rabus will reportedly join the BBC competition series Gladiators under the name The Emperor. He replaces Jamie Bigg, known as Giant, who left the programme. Producers chose the new persona to help Rabus stand out after Giant’s exit. Bigg had stated that the BBC ended his role due to his relationship with former partner Taylor Ryan. Despite fan calls for Giant’s return, Rabus has impressed during filming for the next series. A source said Giant was popular, so a strong replacement was needed. Producers like Rabus and believe The Emperor will appeal to viewers. Rabus lives in London, is a married father of one, and has won several bodybuilding titles, including Mr Universe in Italy in 2015. He began training at age 17 and has 17 years of experience. Filming occurred at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena. Separately, competitor Athena, whose real name is Karanjeet Kaur Bains, addressed online speculation about her absence from series four after an injury. She confirmed she is now fully fit and posted training footage online.
