An Indian citizen suspected of first-degree murder in the death of a University of Arizona student has been arrested in Germany after leaving the United States. The 20-year-old man is accused of killing his 19-year-old girlfriend, who reportedly intended to end the relationship because of earlier domestic violence. The victim was found unresponsive in her Tucson apartment on August 6 with marks on her neck. Police responded to a welfare check requested by her family. A roommate stated she had planned to separate from the suspect and had previously been assaulted by him. Another roommate reported hearing loud arguments the day before the death. Court records indicate the suspect had prior assault allegations and had been expelled from the university. He reportedly lost his job, affecting his visa and finances. After the incident, he flew from Tucson to Houston and then to Berlin. Authorities believe he aimed to reach India. He allegedly used the victim’s bank card for transport. He is expected to be extradited to Arizona to face charges and will be held at the Pima County Adult Detention Center. The probe continues.
