An Indian Reddit user working at one of the Big 4 firms in Canada after graduating from a university there said permanent residency now appears unlikely. A stable job does not guarantee comfortable living because of high costs. The user explained that parental spending on tuition, without debt, is the main reason for remaining, even though returning home would feel like a loss. Despite Canada’s quality of life and clean environment, the user feels more at peace back home. Government data shows fewer permanent residencies issued to Indians recently, with numbers dropping from 49,115 in early 2025 to 36,910 in the same period of 2026. Express Entry scores have risen above 500 points. Responses were mixed, with many advising the user to stay longer for Canadian work experience or to consider moving to lower-cost cities instead of returning to India.
