Jadumani Singh and Preeti Pawar moved into the quarter-finals of their boxing categories at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow following strong performances. Singh claimed a unanimous 5-0 decision against Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman in the men’s 55kg round of 16 at the Scottish Event Campus. Although shorter in reach, the boxer from Manipur used agile movement and rapid punches to break through his opponent’s defense. The first round was tight, but Singh dominated afterward with clean strikes and counters that earned all judges’ scores. He dedicated the win, which occurred on Kargil Vijay Diwas, to soldiers from the Kargil conflict and stated his aim to win gold for India. Preeti Pawar also advanced in the women’s 54kg event by stopping Malawi’s Deborah Mtenje via referee stoppage in the second round after two standing counts. She will next meet Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde. Aditya Yadav became the first Indian eliminated, losing 3-2 to Uganda’s Nuhu Batte in the men’s 65kg round of 16. Lovlina Borgohain has already secured at least a bronze medal by reaching the semi-finals.
