Four men have been jailed after armed police recovered a loaded handgun and other weapons from a car connected to a violent attack on a construction worker in Birmingham.

The men were stopped by firearms officers in Wolverhampton three days after the attack on Ruskin Street on September 12, 2025. During the incident the victim was beaten with metal poles, suffering fractures to both legs and his left arm that required surgery.

The attackers fled in a white BMW, later traced travelling from London into Wolverhampton along the Black Country Route. Body-worn video showed officers surrounding the vehicle and arresting the four men.

A search found a handgun loaded with 11 rounds in the front passenger footwell and five swords plus other weapons in the rear.

The men were sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 9 after convictions for firearms and weapons offences. Gurwinder Singh, 25, from Ealing, received five years and 11 months. Harpandeep Singh, 23, from Hackney, was sentenced to seven years. Harshehajdeep Singh, 21, from Ealing, received six years and eight months. Zorawar Singh, 31, of no fixed address, was jailed for six years and two months.

Detective Constable Kyle Bowering said the recovery removed weapons that could have been used to harm others. West Midlands Police said the case forms part of Operation Target, its initiative against serious organised crime including gun offences.
