UK-based music firm Virtuoso Music has revealed plans to expand operations into India, one of the world’s fastest-growing music markets. The company will focus on original music production, rights management, artist development and distribution. It intends to set up activities across several parts of the music sector, partnering with local artists, songwriters and producers to generate new content and create lasting support structures for the nation’s growing music scene. Data from the FICCI-EY Media and Entertainment Report 2026 shows India’s music industry rose 10 percent in 2025, reaching Rs. 59 billion. The sector is forecast to expand at 9 percent annually, hitting Rs. 75 billion by 2028. Virtuoso cited India’s commercial opportunities and the range of creative talent across languages, styles and age groups as key reasons for entering the market. The firm plans to merge music creation, artist support and rights handling under a creator-focused model aimed at building lasting ties between artists and business partners. Company leaders view India as a key focus because of its rapid market growth and cultural role on the global music stage. The goal is to create frameworks that better balance creator and commercial interests over time, encouraging investment in talent and offering more stable career paths. A senior executive stated that the future of music depends on creators receiving a real portion of their work’s success. In India the emphasis is on creating lasting value for artists and collaborators. Virtuoso will generate original music in multiple genres and languages, teaming with Indian creators to develop material appealing both locally and abroad. It will also invest in marketing and release systems, offering commercial backing alongside creative work. The company will assist artists and rights owners in managing and growing their catalogues while opening routes to international markets via sync licensing, brand deals and strategic placements. This strategy seeks to increase the long-term commercial worth of Indian-created music by linking artists and rights holders to worldwide opportunities. The first set of original releases targeting the Indian market is already underway and will cover Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu music, with launches planned for early 2027. Virtuoso expects to reveal its initial artist and industry partnerships in the coming months while building its presence in India’s changing music landscape.
