Palakkad-based performer Rajesh Hebbar is well known to Malayali viewers. Since his film debut in Chithrakoodam in 2003 and recent role in Mollywood Times, he has maintained a consistent presence in Malayalam cinema for more than twenty years. His television portrayals of cunning antagonists further boosted his recognition.
A younger generation now recognizes him mainly for rock song covers. Versions of tracks such as Scorpions’ Wind of Change and Black Sabbath’s Paranoid have attracted dedicated listeners and revealed an unexpected aspect of his work.
His interest in music began during college at Government Victoria College, Palakkad, where he performed with the classic rock group Primitive Knights. The band toured southern India from the late 1980s into the 1990s.
He recalls the group’s activity level matching other regional acts and notes their modest origins using local materials for equipment. Although acting was his childhood goal, music became a natural outlet for his stage presence.
Rajesh describes himself as an average vocalist but effective live performer whose energy drew repeat audiences. The band ended in the early 2000s over differing creative views. Years afterward, a private performance led him to share covers on social media, where they quickly gained wide attention.
Young viewers across Kerala and beyond commented, often surprised to learn the actor from television serials also performs songs by Metallica and Pink Floyd.
Rajesh has appeared in sixty-five films in five languages and debuted on television in 2004. He is noted for parts in Sathyan Anthikad productions and portrayed a seventeenth-century poet in the award-winning Sanskrit film Priyamanasam.
He is preparing for an upcoming project and aims to challenge assumptions about age-appropriate interests, emphasizing passion over years lived.
