New Delhi: The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry will lead a senior Indian business group to Spain, Belgium and Finland from July 13 to 17, 2026, as part of efforts to expand economic links with Europe.

The trip seeks to strengthen the India-European Union relationship through increased trade, investment, technology ties and sustainable growth. Participants will represent major Indian firms active in advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital services, healthcare, food processing, and gems and jewellery.

Focus on Trade and Investment in Spain

While in Spain the minister will conduct bilateral talks with senior officials responsible for economy, industry and foreign relations. He will also lead the India-Spain Business Roundtable to examine prospects in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, railways, semiconductors and tourism.

The schedule aligns with the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, which marks seventy years of diplomatic ties, and is intended to foster direct business links. Several Spanish companies already operate in India, and Indian information technology and engineering firms continue to grow their presence in Spain.

Strategic Engagements in Belgium

On July 14–15 in Belgium the minister will tour the Port of Antwerp and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre to review logistics, supply chains and the international diamond trade.

He will join the India-EU Business Roundtable and co-chair the third India-EU Trade and Technology Council ministerial meeting in Brussels. The council serves as a forum for cooperation on trade, technology and economic security.

Meetings are planned with senior European Union figures, including the presidents of the European Commission and European Council, as well as Belgium’s prime minister. Discussions with executives from companies such as Thales Group and Silox Group are also arranged.

Innovation and Technology Push in Finland

In Finland the focus will be on innovation, digital technologies and clean energy. The minister will meet Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs and take part in the India-Finland Business Roundtable.

An agreement between the Confederation of Indian Industry and Business Finland will be signed to improve institutional cooperation.

Visits to Finnish firms and research bodies including Nokia, VTT Research Centre, KONE Corporation and Kemppi Group are scheduled to explore collaboration in telecom infrastructure, 6G, smart mobility, electric-vehicle networks and industrial innovation.

Strengthening India-EU Ties

The mission occurs as India and the European Union seek to conclude a long-delayed free-trade agreement. It is expected to advance work on advanced manufacturing, sustainability, digital technologies and secure supply chains.

Officials stated the visit will promote trade and investment while underscoring India’s role as a reliable partner in innovation and sustainable development.
