Housing sales across 75 major Indian cities increased 16 percent in value to Rs 9.33 lakh crore during FY26, even as the number of units sold declined marginally by 1 percent to 7,09,793, according to data from Liases Foras. The research firm reported that new residential supply grew 10 percent to 6,20,842 units, pushing unsold inventory up 13 percent to around 12 lakh units. Sales in the top eight cities edged down to 5,07,850 units, while tier II and III cities saw a 4 percent drop to 2,01,943 units. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region led with a 23.7 percent share of national sales and 4 percent growth. Bengaluru held second place with a 9.9 percent share. Pune recorded a 25 percent decline in sales. The housing price index rose 3 percent over the year.
